Employers rarely accept a part-time employee who has to fit her working hours around her personal live tasks. Your suggestions are really great! another one I could add is crowdwork, which means working from home doing small jobs. this way you could really decide what to do and when to do it.

Re: Contact Us

Hi. I used to work for a company that had both office based and homebased staff and it wasn't uncommon for the flexi-home based workers to start earlier and finish later. They often outworked us. I do believe your ending question is quite poignant - I think it IS based on their own work ethic rather than that of their employees.

Also they are both so high up in their respective organisations with incomes that affords them nannies and in the case of Yahoo!'s Marissa, an on-site nursery that they are out of touch with their employees and what childcare support they can afford on their salaries. For the average person childcare is expensive. Once you become a parent to have and be effective at both; a career and being a mum flexibility is how we best achieve this.

Whilst these two women hold narrow very narrow views there are also a number of organisations from BT to Accenture who recognise the benefits of work/life balance. The business case for flexible and home working are many from cost savings to happier more motivated staff and particularly for retaining top female talent within the workforce.

There are many studies commissioned that back-up the positive benefits of flexible working.

Here's just one: https://www.rec.uk.com/_upl...

Maybe these two women should read a few. It seems to me it more a question of leaderships attitude toward homebased workers maybe if Marissa changed that she'd get a different outcome. Or better still build her employees nursery care next their office also so they can be afforded the same office based childcare support she has.

Re: Top tips to help your child through their SATs

Thank you it helped

Re: The working mum’s guide to organising a children’s party…stress free and on a budget

A lovely guide to organising a child's party... very clear and concise.
